Tapping trees for maple syrup
Locally tapped maple syrup is the bomb and it sells out fast. Found at Suffolk Street Eatery, Northwinds co-op and gift shops and Farmers Markets.

Fishing
We've been doing some fishing at Saxon and Black River Harbor in the past with charters. Glacier Girl operates out of Saxon Harbor. Lake Superior charters bring in Salmon, Lake Trout, Whitefish. Lake Gogebic is a popular fishing lake stocked with Waleye, perch. and our favorite has become exploring small out of the way lakes down long dirt roads. Lots of rivers & creeks and Montreal River has a few spots for trout fishing nearby. Day and annual fishing license can be found at Holiday stations.
Salmon charters go out Saxon Harbor. Charter Fishing with a local guide is a great way to spend a day on the Big Lake or Lake Gogebic.

Monks worth mentioning
Abby Cakes (raisin bread-ish) soaked in bourbon, jams, jellies. The Jampot and the monks who run it are a legend in the Keewenaw. Located on Hwy 26 between Eagle Harbor and Eagle River, go see these guys - well worth the trip if you’re heading north.
